About Me

My name is Joan Nicholes.  I am 52 years old and live in Houston, Texas.  I have been crocheting for nearly 24 years and I am completely obsessed with it.  I recently began designing my own set of greeting cards.  Last week I designed my own knitting loom using plastic canvas, popsicle sticks and fabric.  It turned out great and I've already finished my first scarf.  In September 2006 I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  I began my chemotherapy in September, ended my radiation in May of the following year.  I have been in remission ever since.  I have beautiful and sweet granddaughters, Emily and Cheyenne.  They fill me with so much joy I can't believe it.  I love to read fiction, mostly contemporary romance, but I also love to read mystery/suspense, historical and anything else that interest me.  I also love to write and have written two complete novels.  I one day hope to get them published.  I once submitted my manuscript, Tomorrow's Dreams, and the publisher responded by saying it was a great novel for a beginner.  Unfortunately it was a self-publishing company and I didn't have the money to pay to get the manuscript published.  I love to travel.  I have been to New York, California, Colorado, Hawaii, The Caribbean Islands, Arkansas and most recently, New Orleans.  I love baseball.  Can't get enough of it.  Just wish I had friends that enjoyed it as much as I do.  I guess you can say I'm obsessed with that as well.  Well if you have any question you'd like to ask  you may email me at diydesignyourself2015@gmail.com.
